Single Chevron Nail Art

I wanted to just put something simple and bright on my nails when I got back from our vacation. But I can never settle for a simple creme polish anymore. I still have some nail stickers to try out, so I just did the simple chevron down the middle of the nail with two other colors to the side of the main color.

It is hard getting the hang of taking nail photos again!

I started off with two coats of China Glaze- Shore Enuff (Off Shore Collection summer 2014). The first coat of this polish was kind of a pain, so I applied a semi thick second coat and it smoothed out nicely. I added a coat of seche vite and waited for that to dry before applying the sticker.

I used the large chevron stickers from nailvinyls.com.

Then I applied Sally Hansen- Pacific Blue first since the purple, China Glaze- That's Shore Bright (Sunsational Collection Summer 2013), dries so fast and peels off a little when taking the stickers off.

All in all I really love this combo! I got an awesome idea for an even better combo which I will have to try soon!

4th of July Nails

As promised yesterday, here are my 4th of July nails!

 

Here is what I did last year. This years water marble came out MUCH better.

I used a whole bunch of polishes for this! First, the base I used for every nail is OPI- My Boyfriend Scales Walls (Spiderman Collection 2012). My go to white, not your traditional stark white, but still white enough, and a very good formula.

The glitters:
My index finger is Sally Hansen- Red White & Hue (Color Frenzy Line). I am not too sure if this is limited edition, I just stumbled upon this at Target and had to get it since I don't have a red white and blue polish in a clear base. I know Hard Candy has one too. The formula wasn't the best. I tended to get a lot of the clear base on my brush rather than glitter, so it got a little thick.

My pinky is Polish Me Silly- Razzmatazz (Formally known as Lush Lacquer). This polish is no longer available unfortunately. It is just red and blue medium hex glitters in a clear base.Very easy to work with.

Red and Blue:
Everyone in the nail polish world knows about Sally Hansen- Pacific Blue being changed to an awful formula along with some other loved Xtreme wear polishes. I have heard these polishes are great for water marbling, so I gave it a whirl. I think it came out pretty good. It didn't spread out as easily as the OPI's I used, but it got the job done. It especially got the job done for the stripes on my middle finger since it is so creamy and opaque. I got the striping tape from Nailvinyls, and used various sizes.

The red is a new one to my collection and the nail polish world, which is OPI- Coca-Cola Red (Coca- Cola Collection 2014). This polish is FLAWLESS! I used it on my other hand for the base before applying the Sally Hansen glitter. Super creamy and opaque, and almost a one coater. I think I may have a new favorite red.

Pastel Skittle

I sometimes get overwhelmed with the amount of polish I have, and I just can't pick what I want to wear. So, picking a bunch to wear together is usually what I do...

The chunky glitter used is Sephora Formula X- Thunder. Part of their indie-esque glitter line, and quite amazing! I got so much glitter onto the brush and it was so easy to apply! I am very impressed with these glitters!

The textured polish on my middle finger is Sally Hansen- Sour Apple (Sugar Coat Collection 2013). I used two coats.

Both creme polishes used are from Illimasqua. The minty turquoise color is Illimasqua- Nomad and the purple is Illimasqua- Jo' mina. Some of the best creme polishes out there, expensive, but well worth the pretty penny! Both were two coats, but almost one coaters.

Mod Lacquer French Tips

This is what I wore on Valentine's Day. Mod Lacquer quickly became one of my top indie brands last year. Jennifer makes some amazing polishes, with amazing quality, and her Spring collection for this year did not fail to impress. Naturally, I got all of them!

I could not choose which one to wear first, so I just put all four of the polishes on my fingers! Each finger has 2 semi thick coats of polish. Each one had an amazing formula, glided on the nail like butter. I really have nothing bad to say about any of these polishes, only that it is hard to pick my favorite. I think it is a tie between the green and pink....

The colors are:

Blueberry Bliss
Blackberry Cream

The names make my hungry!

I am a little late on these...but oh well. Sorry for not doing as many fun manicures as I wanted. I was literally non stop busy from Christmas until the Saturday after. At least I had time to do some fun nails for New Years Eve, even though I stayed in all night... Here there are:

I think I am finally starting to master Leopard Print...

I started off with three coats of Liquid Sky Lacquer- White Christmas (Christmas Holodays Collection Winter 2013). It is definitely the sheerest holo that I have, but the most unique shade in my collection! You can really see the holo in the bottle!

My ring finger is two coats of China Glaze- It's A Trap-Eze! (Cirque Du Soleil Collection Winter 2012) I don't think this polish needs much explanation...It is the perfect polish for New Years. And the formula is amazing as well.

On to the leopard print: I decided to play around with textures and used only textured polishes for the actual leopard print. I used all six of the Julie G Frosted Gumdrop polishes which are:

Hot Cinnamon
Sugar Rush
Tangerine Dream
Rock Candy
Blueberry Fizz
Crushed Candy

All the names make me hungry!

The black used for the outline of the leopard print is Sally Hansen- Lick-O-Rich (Sugar Coated Collection 2013)

Just for fun here is my thumb. I think this was the best finger I did, especially since it has all 6 of the frosted gumdrop shades on it!

Rainbow Stripes

I am still trying to master stripes! They are so freakin hard. Maybe I should just try tape... Here is what I came up with:

As I have mentioned before, I will never get tired of rainbow nails!

I just used the brush from the bottle, and simply painted half of each nail.

The colors I used are: Index finger: Sally Hansen- Fuchsia Power, and Jessica- Tangerine Dreamz (Gilato Mio Collection Spring 2012).
Middle finger: Jessica- Banana Peel (Gilato Mio Collection Spring 2012), and Finger Paints- Sexy Sundress.
Ring finger: Essie- First Timer (Resort Collection 2013), and OPI- Fly (Nicki Minaj Spring 2012).
Pinky finger: Color Club- Endless Summer (Fiesta Collection Summer 2013), and Essie- Play Date (Go Overboard Collection 2012).

After the polish dried I just used Orly Instant Artist- Crisp White to do the stripes! I definitely need to work on them more... But either way I love how they turned out.

Texture Skittles

I finally got some of the Sally Hansen "Sugar Coat" polishes. I only wanted the ones that were different colors than my China Glaze and Milani's, and I used the rest of my untried ones all at once. Here is the first ones I used, making a Rainbow. And here is what I came up with to use the rest:

Lets start with the colors starting from the thumb to the pinky: Milani- Yellow Mark, China Glaze- Itty, Bitty, & Gritty, China Glaze- Unrefined, Sally Hansen- Bubble Plum, Sally Hansen- Sour Apple, and the black used for the dots is Sally Hansen- Lick-O-Rich.

Each polish was two coats. I really do love the formula of these. They are nearly one coaters, and don't dry as slow as the OPI textured polishes. I have yet to wear my Zoya Pixiedusts, so I can't compare them to those.

As you can see, the texture doesn't make easy dotting. But at least I don't have to worry about the top coat ruining it. I haven't used any of these with a top coat yet, so I might do a quick post tomorrow showing them with a top coat!

Skittles Using Mod Lacquer

I just discovered this indie brand, and haven't really heard much about it. The polishes are amazing! I got three to start off with, and now I want them all! This glitter was pretty much made for me, and I couldn't quite decide what to wear it over, so I did another rainbow (sorta).

Here are the colors I started off with:

From thumb to pinky: Wet n Wild Megalast- Candy-licious. Sinful Colors- Orange Cream (Sugar Rush 2013) This shade is pretty much the same as Orly- Cotton Candy, but it has a bunch of tiny shimmers in it! CK One- Current (Summer 2013) Not unique to my collection, but it is my goal in life to get every Jennifer Green from every brand. So far, this one is my favorite! Barry M- Mint Green, and lastly, Sally Hansen Insta Dry- Mint Sprint.

And here it is with the awesome glitter!!

Sorry for the variety of lighting. I took some yesterday as the sun was setting, and some this morning as the sun was going in and out.

But either way, you can tell how amazing this glitter is! This is easily one of my top glitters, and I have a lot of glitter. It is my top three favorite colors all into one, and the formula is amazing!

The glitter is Mod Lacquer- Technicolor Noise, such a fun name. It has all sorts of glitters in it, including squares! My favorite. There's tiny green and blue micro glitters, large and medium green and blue hexaganols, large and small pink squares, and medium red glitters! It is the perfect balance, and I don't ever want to take this manicure off.

I may wear one of the other Mod Lacquer's I got next.

Monochromatic Skittles

I have totally been neglecting this :(. I haven't had much time to do my nails, school is taking over my life! But these are making me feel better :)

I've been itching to do a skittles manicure for a while, and this is what I came up with!

This is my first attempt at leopard print on my nails, and I really like the outcome! They are so easy. Expect to see more from me! I am also still on a french tip kick.

I started out with two coats of Zoya- Blu, a new polish from their Lovely Collection for Spring 2012. This is one of the two polishes I got from that collection. I love it! It is the palest blue I have, and the formula is amazing. It is my first creme polish from Zoya, and they have yet to disappoint me. I got my first Zoya about a year ago, and they are quickly becoming one of my favorite brands!

I added Lush Lacquer- Splitter Splatter on my index finger. It is one of their matte glitters, with blue micro glitters, medium and large white and blue hexagons, medium black and white squares and black and white bar glitters. The perfect amount of glitter mixed all into one!

Onto the leopard print. The medium blue shade is Sally Hansen- Pacific Blue, a cult favorite, and the most vibrant blue, ever. And the dark blue is one of the Blue Cross Christmas snowmen polishes, which have no names. I used the same shades on my tips.

What do you think? I really love them, except it isn't very balanced. I should have switched what I did with my index and middle finger. Other than that, I think it is a perfect monochromatic manicure!

New Years Nails!

I didn't have time to make a post for my nails yesterday because I was taking care of my sick honey boo boo. So instead of calling these my New Years Eve nails, even though I wore them yesterday, I am calling them my New Years nails. I went with the whole glitter theme of course, and here is what I came up with:

Awesome Ombre!!!

Lets just get right into what polishes I used. Going from the thumb to pinky, the base colors are: Revlon Colorstay- Provence, Sally Hansen Hard as Nails- No Hard Feelings, OPI- Planks A Lot, Anise- Violet Falls In Love, and OPI- Sapphire In The Snow. I believe Provence and No Hard Feelings are part of Revlon and Sally Hansen's permanent lines. Planks A Lot is from the Pirates of the Caribbean Spring 2011 collection. Sapphire in the Snow is from OPI's Holiday Wishes collection way back in 2009. I haven't heard much about Anise in the Nail Blogging Community besides like one time from Scrangie. I have only seen them at DSW usually by the cash registers. And every time I go there, there are different polishes. But definitely try to check this Anise color out, it is probably one of the best and my personal favorite purples! I used two coats for each nail. 

After those dried, I applied one thin coat of China Glaze- Glitter All The Way. I applied it pretty thick at the tips and with using the brush I did a gradual gradient. Then I used China Glaze- Pizzazz which is your standard multicolored chunky glitter. Both polishes are from their Holiday Joy 2012 collection.

I really love doing ombre manicures. That is the advantage of having so many polishes! I plan on hopefully doing a blue one next because I have done green multiple times. Any suggestions?
