My Version of Unicorn Pee

A little over a week ago, Chalkboard Nails posted some amazing nails using the coveted Clarins 230, layered over Different Dimension- Dueling Unicorns. I will probably never get my hands on Clarins 230, I just can't see myself wasting that much money on one polish, and would not want a loved one to do that either... But I was fortunate enough to get the "dupe" of it in a swap (I actually have 2), but it really just has the same kind of effect. I was going to layer it over Dueling Unicorns to see how it compared to Clarins 230, but I decided might as well make my own version:

These were very hard to get good photos of!

I started off with two coats of Lilypad Lacquer- True Blood, which is one of my favorite holos. It is a deep deep purple, but also has some red tints to it. Then I layered one coat of Max Factor- Fantasy Fire over that, which is the more available version Clarins 230, but quickly becoming hard to find in the areas that have it.

In the bottle Clarins 230 mainly has a red base, but has that awesome sparkle that shifts to every color in the rainbow. Fantasy Fire is more of a purple base, but has that same shimmer that shifts to every color, that is why it is compared to it so much. The shimmer is extremely hard to capture, so I am going to end this with a blurry shot so you can see the sparkles more, and a side shot of my nails:

Lilypad Lacquer + Pretty & Polished

I got these two polishes from my most recent swap, and I knew for sure that I would be putting these on together. One has been a lemming of mine for ever, and the other I had no idea existed, but my girl got it for me cuz I love green, and holographic polishes! Here it is:

Soooo pretty!

The green polish is Lilypad Lacquer- Once Upon a Lime. This is probably my new favorite green holo, aside from the green I have from the China Glaze OMG collection. Not only is the holo really strong, but it also has a really nice shimmer through out it. Most holos looks really dull in indoor lighting, but this one is sooooo gorgeous! And once it is in the sun light, it is like BAM! The formula is also amazing! So easy to work with, and nearly opaque in one coat, but I used two.

The gradient on the tips is using Pretty & Polished- Sand Art. I love this polish! It is a matte glitter, a lot like the floam polishes. It is a mixture of green, blue, and red glitters. Unfortunately it is kind of hard to get you hands on.

Since the holo didn't show up as strong in the normal photos, here is a shot of my nails at a slightly different angle to show it more, and a bottle shot that will make your jaw drop:

You can get Lilypad Lacquer on their Etsy, and I am pretty sure they ship internationally. I ordered my first polish I got from them straight from their etsy. Llarowe also stocks them, but last I checked they were all sold out, but her site is down anyways!

Holographic Fish Tail French Tips

I am combining some of my favorite "techniques" into one again. I love me some french tips and holographic polishes, so I used both to do the french tip fish tail technique. I have seen these around for a while, and I am not too sure what the official name of the technique is So, I am just calling it a fishtail french tip since it is pretty much the fishtail technique, but only on the tips! Here they are:

Two of these polishes are Australian indie brands. These Aussie girls are seriously amazing. I need to go there again for a few weeks and just buy all the Australian polish!

I started off with two coats of Emily de Molly- Peer Pressure. The most awesome bubble gum pink holo ever!! Hayley, the creator makes some of the most amazing polishes, I don't know how she does it. She just released some new shades too that I am just dying to get! I luckily snagged this when Llarowe restocked with their new cart hold feature. Along with this red.

The purple is Color Club- Eternal Beauty (Halo Hues Spring 2013). This used to be my favorite holo since it was one of the first unique holo shades in my collection, and very affordable compared to most. But as long as these indie brands keep making new unique shades, I have a feeling this one will be pushed to the side :(

Lastly, the darker purple shade is Lilypad Lacquer- True Blood. I guess it is more of a blood shade. And SUPER opaque. Just ridiculous. I need to wear it on its own eventually.

Blurry shot to really show how strong the holo is...

For you Aussie ladies, you can get every Emily de Molly polish possible on her Etsy or Big cartel. for everyone else, they are available at Llarowe (always sold out), meimeisignatures, Norwaynails, and Sallymagpies

Lilypad Lacquer actually ships worldwide! You can get them on Etsy, there is seriously every color to choose from. I don't remember how much shipping was, but you can also get them on Llarowe.

And you can get Color Club from head2toebeauty
