Leopard Print Using Lime Crime and China Glaze

I am not one to follow trends on my nails when the seasons change, but the weather here in the Bay Area has been more summer like actually, so I am sporting some awesome pastels leaning toward neon.

I am still never satisfied by my leopard prints....

I started off with two coats of Lime Crime- Lavendairy. Lime Crime polishes have the best creme formulas ever! It is nearly a one coater, but I did two just out of habit. All of Lime Crime's polishes are nearly neon, yet they are pastel, it's weird. Too bad all their polishes are out of stock right now!

The green I used is China Glaze- Grass is Lime Greener (City Flourish Collection Spring 2014). It is also like the Lime Crime polish where it is nearly a neon, but still pastel. It is very similar to Lime Crime Pastelchio.

The glitter I used is China Glaze- Full Spectrum (Prismatic Collection Spring 2012). Due to the leopard print on top, you can't really tell how amazing the glitter is. It is an amazing dense full coverage glitter with large rainbow holographic hexagonal glitters in it, but the base of microglitters has a duochrome effect! Some of the coolest polishes ever, I should try my others just  on their own soon.... Scrangie of course has some of the best swatches of them.

I am a little late on these...but oh well. Sorry for not doing as many fun manicures as I wanted. I was literally non stop busy from Christmas until the Saturday after. At least I had time to do some fun nails for New Years Eve, even though I stayed in all night... Here there are:

I think I am finally starting to master Leopard Print...

I started off with three coats of Liquid Sky Lacquer- White Christmas (Christmas Holodays Collection Winter 2013). It is definitely the sheerest holo that I have, but the most unique shade in my collection! You can really see the holo in the bottle!

My ring finger is two coats of China Glaze- It's A Trap-Eze! (Cirque Du Soleil Collection Winter 2012) I don't think this polish needs much explanation...It is the perfect polish for New Years. And the formula is amazing as well.

On to the leopard print: I decided to play around with textures and used only textured polishes for the actual leopard print. I used all six of the Julie G Frosted Gumdrop polishes which are:

Hot Cinnamon
Sugar Rush
Tangerine Dream
Rock Candy
Blueberry Fizz
Crushed Candy

All the names make me hungry!

The black used for the outline of the leopard print is Sally Hansen- Lick-O-Rich (Sugar Coated Collection 2013)

Just for fun here is my thumb. I think this was the best finger I did, especially since it has all 6 of the frosted gumdrop shades on it!

Leopard Print Using Australian Polishes

I mentioned a few posts ago that I finally got my nail mail from Christine at Nails At 2am. This time i used three of the more mainstream polishes she sent me. I guess these brands are more like Sally Hansen, China Glaze etc. I am not too sure if they are considered "salon" brands though. These three colors were just begging me to be used together, so I whipped up a leopard print. Here it is:

The purple is seriously one of the best purples I have ever used. It is nearly a one coater! But I used two coats just for insurance. The polish is Australis- Manic Panic. Seriously, uhhhmaysing.

The awesome Jennifer Green on my ring finger is Australis- Acid Rain. Another amazing polish as well. It was almost a one coater, but it was a tad bit streaky. The second coat made it perfect.

Lastly, the blue I used is BYS- Matte Mint Green. I guess it is more of a blue green in person. It worked well with what I used it for. Then I just used Wet n Wild- Black Creme for the final touches of the leopard print.

I topped it off with Seche Vite. I always forget Seche is the perfect top coat for nail art because it pretty much never smears. I used the Butter London top coat on my other hand after letting it dry for a good 15 minutes, and it pretty much ruined it!

Guest Post: Nails at 2am

Today's post is also one of the first bloggers I started fololwing, and she fololwed me very early on as well. She is one of the hundreds of amazing Aussie nail girls, and is queen of ikats, which I need to try! I love that she did some green nails because she knows I love me some green. We also have had a huge epic nail mail in the works for like 5 months now...we just need to mail them out, so expect to see some aussie polishes in like a month. Here is what she created:

It wasn't too hard to choose the colour scheme for my mani.. As Jen's favourite colour is green, thought a neon green and pink leopard print would be perfect! 

I used an unnamed ChiChi neon green for the base and Australis #totesamaze for the spots. My mum hates the bright neon green (hurts her eyes she says :P) but I LOVE IT... and I hope y'all do too! :D

I also took a photo in direct sunlight, and PHWOAR even better!

Springy Leopard Print

I have been really wanting to do a super bright and fun leopard print. This isn't too in your face, but it is definitely eye catching. I am still using only unused polishes, and today I decided to use some polishes from my drugstore drawer. Here it is:

Cool color combo?

The base color is Nicole BY OPI- Stand By Your Manny (Modern Family collection 2013). It is such a beautiful sparkly baby blue, but it is a pretty crappy formula. I needed three coats due to thin streakyness.

The yellow is Sinful Colors- Unicorn, and the green is Julie G- Holla-Peno. 

Any suggestions for some nail art? I plan on doing a water marble soon, and maybe galaxy nails. Might as well since I will have a lot of time!

Nail Art using Floss Gloss!

I am so happy to be show casing these nails! I have been eying this brand for a while, and got these a few weeks ago. I knew I wanted to use them both together, and I hope I made my fellow baydestrain nail polish makers proud!

They even look amazing in the shade!

I don't normally wear neon colors. I have very few, and these are definitely my fav! I think I don't wear them because I have found the formulas to be kind of crappy, but these are pretty awesome!

The green is Floss Gloss- Con Limon, the perfect neon Jennifer Green shade. I have never seen a neon green like this! The orange/coraly shade is Floss Gloss- Bikini Coral. 

The glitter on my ring finger is OPI- Lights Of Emerald City (Oz the Great and Powerful Collection 2013). This glitter is so cool looking, but a beezy to work with. You can get a good amount of glitter on the brush 50% of the time, but it is so hard to get it on your nail evenly! Definitely not my favorite glitter...

Now for a  nice review of Floss Gloss as a whole. First off, I LOVE the bottle. They are fairly small, but the handle is nice and big so it is easy to hold and apply the polish. The gold looks fabulous, too. The formula on Con Limon was awesome. It went on evenly in 2 thin coats, and turned out just as bright as it is in the bottle, without using a white base first! Bikini Coral was nice too, but a tad bit on the thick side. It dried very matte, too, and Con Limon dried to more of a satin finish with more shine. I guess my only negative would be that they are $8.00 for only .18 fluid ounce... But the craftsmanship on the bottle makes up for that! Especially the cute nail label they have!

Tri Polish Challenge: Day 3

I am going to try to use all three colors (even though you don't have to) for each day. I think it keeps it more interesting.

I forgot to say in my first post that we are allowed to use black and white, and also glitter toppers. So, I took advantage of that rule for today's nails.

The black used on the leopard print is Orly- Liquid Vinyl.

The amazing black and white glitter is Lush Lacquer- Salt n' Peppa. This is the only black and white glitter I own. There are some many out there, and this seems to be the only one that has tiny micro holographic glitters in it! It pretty much has every shape and size of black and white matter glitters in it, too.

Monochromatic Skittles

I have totally been neglecting this :(. I haven't had much time to do my nails, school is taking over my life! But these are making me feel better :)

I've been itching to do a skittles manicure for a while, and this is what I came up with!

This is my first attempt at leopard print on my nails, and I really like the outcome! They are so easy. Expect to see more from me! I am also still on a french tip kick.

I started out with two coats of Zoya- Blu, a new polish from their Lovely Collection for Spring 2012. This is one of the two polishes I got from that collection. I love it! It is the palest blue I have, and the formula is amazing. It is my first creme polish from Zoya, and they have yet to disappoint me. I got my first Zoya about a year ago, and they are quickly becoming one of my favorite brands!

I added Lush Lacquer- Splitter Splatter on my index finger. It is one of their matte glitters, with blue micro glitters, medium and large white and blue hexagons, medium black and white squares and black and white bar glitters. The perfect amount of glitter mixed all into one!

Onto the leopard print. The medium blue shade is Sally Hansen- Pacific Blue, a cult favorite, and the most vibrant blue, ever. And the dark blue is one of the Blue Cross Christmas snowmen polishes, which have no names. I used the same shades on my tips.

What do you think? I really love them, except it isn't very balanced. I should have switched what I did with my index and middle finger. Other than that, I think it is a perfect monochromatic manicure!
