Thanksgiving Day Nail Art

Happy Thanksgiving!

I managed to do some fun nail art this year for the holiday. I saw this done by Mucking Fusser, aka the water marble queen. I saw it on Instagram and was instantly like yes, I am doing that this year! Mine did not come out as well of course, but I am still pretty happy with the way they turned out considering I have not marbled in a looong time. Here it is:

No matter what, I always get air bubbles!

I would definitely say my middle finger came out the best. The way I made the design on the water made it very hard to place my finger in, and then I of course realized when I was done that I could have just placed my finger in a different way.... oh well.

I started out with one coat of OPI- My Boyfriend Scales Walls (Spiderman Collection Spring 2012).

The colors I used for the marble are also all OPI:
Coca-Cola Red (Coca-Cola Collection Spring 2014)
Toucan Do It If You Try (Brazil Collection Summer 2014)
I Just Can't Copa-Acabana (Brazil Collection 2014)
A-Taupe The Space Needle (Touring America Collection Fall 2011)

Then using a dotting tool, I made the turkey bodies using A-Taupe The Space Needle. This is pretty much my only brown in my collection.

The white for the eyes is My Boyfriend Scales Walls, and the black pupil is Wet n Wild- Black Creme. Lastly, I used Toucan Do It If You Try for the beak!

My Thanksgiving Day Nails

I really had no time to do something fun on my nails for thanksgiving, what's new. Plus, I had class the day before Thanksgiving, what's up with that?! So, I finally got around to using this polish I have had a for a really long time since it is very Thanksgiving appropriate. Paired with one of the new China Glaze Halloween shades from this year.

The black shade is China Glaze- Bat My Eyes (Monster's Ball Collection Halloween 2013). I used two coats. It is a black base packed with small and micro gold glitters, and there are also orange bar glitters in it too. Those don't show up on the nail too much, but I am okay with that since I am not the biggest fan of bar glitters! You can probably still get your hands on this in ULTA or Sally's!

The beautiful brown shade (never did I think I would say "beautiful brown shade"), is China Glaze- Mahoganie (Specialty Glitters Collection). My nail supply store has pretty much all of the specialty glitters, and this one really stood out to me because of the unique shade, and the awesome holographic glitters in it! This is also two coats, and unfortunately hard to find.

I don't know what I was thinking when I did this combo...if I had done like three weeks before, I would have probably loved it!

 

The base color is Wet n Wild- Club Havana, and the glitter is Ninja Polish- Spooky Floam. I was beyond excited to get this polish because the floam polishes are a legend in the nail polish world. They are usually sold out, but once I saw this one was in stock, I hopped on it! I looked the other day as well and the original floam was in stock! And if you are reading this now, it is still in stock! Hurry and get yours!

On to the application. Club Havana was alright in my book. It was a little streaky after applying the second coat, but I figured the glitter would cover it up, which it did. Spooky Floam was very easy to apply. I applied two pretty thick coats, which is what is shown in the picture. I love the effect, I just wasn't in the mood for it I guess. Maybe if I applied it on a darker color I would have kept it on. The best thing about this polish is it is glow in the dark! I am a sucker for a glow in the dark polish that isn't your standard murky green top coat. I attempted to take a picture of it glowing, but it just wasn't happening.
