Rainbow Chevrons

I mentioned in this post that I had an awesome idea using these nail vinyls, and I am just now getting around to editing the photos! Better late than never right?

Pretty awesome huh?

I  used the larger chevron stickers from Nailvinyls.

I just painted two coats of the middle color, added a top coat, placed the sticker down the middle of my nail, and painted the other two colors on either side! Here are the colors I used going from left to right:

Ombre Dots

This is probably my most favorite nail art I have done, or at least one of my top 5. It is very simple, so anyone can do it! You just need a lot of polish...

I did something pretty similar before, but it was a rainbow. The Australian tuplets of instagram did it, so I played off that and did my own version.

Simple Swatch and Ombre

Here is what I have been wearing on my nails the last 5 days:

The glitter I used is Cirque- Electric Circus (Arcus Collection 2013) This glitter is mainly green, blue, and red large, medium, and small hexagonal glitters. It reminds me a lot of the glitters inside Emily de Molly- Soon, only Electric Circus is jam packed with glitter, I have just one coat shown here. No dabbing required at all!

On to the colors I used underneath, starting from thumb to pinky: Jessica- Lime Cooler (Gelato Mio Collection Spring 2012), Illimasqua- Radium, Illimasqua- Nomad, Jessica- True Blue (It's A Girl Thing Collection Spring 2013), and Inglot Breathable Nail Enamel - No 669. All five were just 2 coats.

I had no difficulties with this polish at all! I got plenty of glitter on my brush to cover my entire nail, I have one coat shown here. Let Them Eat Cake consists of large pastel yellow, blue, and pink glitters, and tiny holographic glitters all in a clear base. I have been eying this for a while, and finally caved and got it!

The base colors are all Jessica polishes from the Gelato Mio Collection from Spring 2012, except for the color on my pinky. Trust me, there is a reason Jen The Polishaholic named this the best collection of 2012. I have all but two since they aren't that unique, but the hoarder in me wants them all just so I can have the entire collection! Starting from the thumb to the pinky: Banana Peel, Tangerine Dreamz, Lime Cooler, Barely Blueberry (Gelato Mio Collection 2012), and lastly, True Blue (It's A Girl Thing 2013). All apply like butter, and are opaque in 2 coats!

Rainbow Stripes

I am still trying to master stripes! They are so freakin hard. Maybe I should just try tape... Here is what I came up with:

As I have mentioned before, I will never get tired of rainbow nails!

I just used the brush from the bottle, and simply painted half of each nail.

The colors I used are: Index finger: Sally Hansen- Fuchsia Power, and Jessica- Tangerine Dreamz (Gilato Mio Collection Spring 2012).
Middle finger: Jessica- Banana Peel (Gilato Mio Collection Spring 2012), and Finger Paints- Sexy Sundress.
Ring finger: Essie- First Timer (Resort Collection 2013), and OPI- Fly (Nicki Minaj Spring 2012).
Pinky finger: Color Club- Endless Summer (Fiesta Collection Summer 2013), and Essie- Play Date (Go Overboard Collection 2012).

After the polish dried I just used Orly Instant Artist- Crisp White to do the stripes! I definitely need to work on them more... But either way I love how they turned out.

Bow Nail Art

I don't really do free hand nail art. I am going to try to do more to master the skills. I think the most awesome free hand nail art I have ever done is my South Park Nails. They are still my favorite, but I really want to recreate them again so I can get better photos. Practicing more free hand nail art will also make them turn out even more amazing! Here is what I came up with:

 

Super girly and cute. I have been seeing these bows floating around and couldn't resist trying them out! I must say, I did pretty darn good!

I didn't do all my fingers because I knew it would take too long, and I didn't even know if they would turn out the way I wanted.

The pink glitter is Nails Inc- Topping Lane, and the blue is Nails Inc- Pudding Lane. Both are from their Special Effects "Sprinkles" line. I love these. I didn't get them for a while after they came out, and hadn't even tried them until now! Both were two coats. The first coat you had to work a little to get the glitter to spread out evenly, but the second coat went on just fine since it had the base to work with.

On to the bows. I started off with two coats of the base colors. The pink is Orly- Lollipop, and the awesome periwinkle blue shade is Jessica- Sophia/True Blue. I don't know why there are two names for it... I used a dotting tool to outline the shape of the bow. First starting off with a big dot in the center, and working my way out to make the bow shape. Then I just filled it in! After that dried, I used my trustworthy striper polish, Orly Instant Artist- Jet Black, to outline the bow, and to do the stripes. I love this striper! It is the only striper I have used, and I hope to get all the colors one day. I don't know if Orly still makes them, but luckily my nail supply store carries all the shades, and for just $2.50.

Rainbow Dots

I finally had enough down time to do some more intricate nail art! I love these. I got inspiration from some ladies on instagram, one being the lovely mulanpoopy. Here it is:

It was so hard choosing colors that went together that I haven't used before! But I found a good cohesion of colors.

The red/pink is a really old Sephora color that has no name. Orange: Zoya- Thandie (Stunning Collection Summer 2013) I like saying that name out loud because it sounds like you're saying Sandy with a lisp. The Yellow: Jessica- Banana Peel (Gelato Mio Collection Spring 2012). Green: Illimasqua- Smash. Blue: Anise- Island Lover. Lastly, the purple: China Glaze- That's Shore Bright (Sunsational Collection Summer 2013). I cheated with the white base and used OPI- My Boyfriend Scales Walls which I have used a lot, but I only have two whites, and this is the best one!

The way I did this was started with the big dots, and just filled in the spaces with smaller dots. Very simple really. I just wish my freakin top coat didn't drag some of the dots -__-. Here is what I did with my thumb, I might do this as a full manicure someday:

Half Moons using Jessica Polishes

I am obsessing over half moons right now. And I am in love with Jessica as a brand! I don't have very many Jessica polishes, but two I have had for a while are easily one of my favorite greens and oranges of all time, and one of these quickly moved up onto my favorite blues of all time!

The base color is Jessica- Barely Blueberry (Gelato Mio Collection Spring 2012). The formula was okay. The first coat was super sheer and streaky, but the second coat made is perfect.

I of course added a fast dry top coat, and placed the binder paper reinforcement stickers to make the half moon shape. The darker shade I used is Jessica- Sophia (It's a Girl Thing collection Spring 2013). I went to my super nail supply store the other day, and when my eyes caught this shade, I am pretty sure my mouth dropped, and I went straight over to the Jessica display and snatched it up! I made sure to compare it to China Glaze- Secret Periwinkle, and it is definitely a different shade of periwinkle. The formula is amazing, almost a one coater, and I love the subtle shimmer in it! I think I also like this shade so much because it looks a lot like Essie- Boxer Shorts, which I could never get my hands on. I am very impressed and definitely recommend it!
